MASCO Total Energy Plant
The Medical Area Service Corporation (MASCO) is an entity servicing the Harvard Medical Area with community-needed services, among which is energy. MASCO is a not-for-profit corporation consisting of Harvard University and eight affiliated medical institutions: Affiliated Hospitals Center (a merger of Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Robert B. Brigham Hospital, and Boston Hospital for Woman), Beth Israel Hospital, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Joslin Diabetes Foundation, New England Deaconess Hospital, Sidney Farber Cancer Center, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. MASCO built the total energy plant in the vicinity of the Harvard Medical School to cater to the academic and medical needs of the area.
This was a unique project because of the Boston and Roxbury communities' political and environmental intricacies. The architectural work involved the coordination of the architectural and mechanical design. Doug was involved with every aspect of this project and was one of the people on the team responsible for the high quality of work produced.
